Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Wednesday 5 May 2021 ) - Tigrayans living in The Netherlands held a demonstration in Amsterdam against the ongoing genocide in Tigray, Ethiopia. The purpose of the demonstration was to draw attention of the Dutch population to the situation in Tigray.
Liberation Day is the Dutch national holiday on 5 May, which annually celebrates the liberation from the German occupation in the Netherlands in 1945. On 5 May, the Dutch people also reflect on the great value of freedom, democracy and human rights which we the people of Tigray are deprived of due to the occupation of our land by the invading Eritrean troops, Amhara militia, and Ethiopian federal army. The National Celebration of the Liberation Day on May 5 takes place in Amsterdam and the twelve provincial capitals.
