Somalia's Ex-president Farmaajo for the first time speaks about missing thousands of cadets sent to Eritrea for training in 2019 secretly who never came back home. UN reported last year they were spotted in Tigray fighting alongside Ethiopian and Eritrean forces against Tigray defense forces.

According to GaroweOnline, the Ex-president disclosed the whereabouts of thousands Somali cadets at the handover ceremony of the presidency to president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Farmaajo confirmed that 5,000 soldiers are in Eritrea after completing their training and awaiting for moving back to Somalia.

The boys' parents have been demanding their return since last year. Most people in Tigray believe that hundreds of them have died in clashes at the beginnen of the Tigray war back in november 2020 when they fought alongside Eritrean troops around Zalambesa in Northern Tigray.
