Civil Society Organizations operational in Tigray issue joint statement strongly urging international community to immediately stop escalating atrocities over Tigrians in Addis and elsewhere in Ethiopia,

15 December 2021, Mekelle, Tigray

The alliance of Civil Society Organizations in Tigray (ACSOT) has issued a joint statement earlier today strongly urging the international community to take a more practical action on the tyrant regime than give lip-service and stop the ongoing atrocities perpetrated over the Tigrians in Addis and elsewhere in Ethiopia immediately. Besides, it also strongly denounced the mass arrest, mass detention, mass killing, forced-disappearance and forced-displacement of Tegaru and aerial bombardment over the Tigrian people.

The official statement was unleashed in the presence of Mr. Tesfay Gebregziabher, the board chairperson of ACSOT; Professor Mitiku Haile, co-founder of Mekelle University/MU; government officials, community members of MU and of civil society organizations, Mekelle residents and other invitees.

The board chairperson of ACSOT Mr. Tesfay Gebregziabher, on his opening remarks, made a crystally clear announcement to the world that the incumbent federal government and its allies have continued intensifying the atrocities over Tegaru. He added that while the regime is doing everything anything possible in his power to decimate the people of Tigray under their full watch, the international communities just keep on expressing their concern.

Having condemned the escalating brutality of the tyrant regime and its complicit forces, Mr. Tesfay Gebregziabher, in his speech, conclusively urged the UN, and other concerned bodies of the international community in the strongest terms to act now without being confused of disinformation and misinformation the rogue premier and his sympathizers are propagating. He also urged them to stop the continued mass arrest, mass killing, and genocide of the people of Tigray.

Finally, the event, which began by a minute of silence, was concluded by holding a vigil in commemoration of our martyrs.
