Nine youths arrested over “Tigray-Amhara forum” controversy

Mekelle - Police arrested nine youths who created controversy after being seen carrying banners saying “Tigray-Amhara forum” alongside Tigray flag and Ethiopia’s imperial flag, according to Landa Report. The group was detained after staging a photo shoot at the entrance of Hawelti Sema’etat.

The outlet reported that Police is investigating the group’s activities, seeking to determine their motives and whether they are backed by other actors from behind.

Among those who organized this and was later arrested was Misgana Abraha, a former TDF fighter who was wounded and left behind in Ethiopia’s Amhara region during TDF’s retreat from Debre Berhan in 2021. Misgana received treatment for his injuries from local farmers in Wello, where he stayed for more than a year before returning to Tigray.
